Flight Out

Taxi arrived on time, we got into Leeds early and the conductor let us get on an earlier train, he couldn’t not as the train was empty, we had a carriage to ourselves. I got a tea; Mike didn’t get a coffee, although he wanted one. Airport, bag drop smoothly and priority lane through security was great. However Mike had packed an assortment of electrical devices, including portable speaker, Bluetooth charger, phone, laptop and USB wires, so got stopped for 20 mins in the idiot queue.  We had Pret number 1. Flight went really fast, lots to do (mainly eating). Free drinks; so much food! Landed and at JFK.

After working out the AirTrain (pay when you get off) and Subway (pay when you get on) we got to the hotel, it was $36 for a week pass, neither of us had actually looked up where the hotel was so we panicked a little, but then sorted it.

Went straight in to Manhattan to see Central Park, then walked to Times Square. It was pretty cool. Further downtown was the Empire State Building, it looked small from a distance but then once you were up close, you could feel the size. Explored more, saw the Flatiron building where Spiderman works too. As it was almost dark, we headed back uptown town, and took the Subway to Grand Central Station, actually grand, where we could walk back across to Time Square, now that was something, it was like it was still daylight.

That’s when the time difference hit me, we had been up since half 5 and it was now 2am at home but only 9pm here. So we headed back for the night.
