Sunday Walk About

We have a good view of the New York skyline from our hotel room. It was the 5 boro bike tour today. It was brilliant, especially in the city, all of the roads were closed and 42,000 people went for a 40 mile cycle, unfortunately they had ran out of tandem bikes, so we just went to see.

The weather wasn’t great so we decided to head to the American Museum of Natural History. Massive queue’s everywhere, but we managed to find self service kisok’s, which had a 5 minute queue line. Excellent museum; really interesting. I now want to watch Night at the Museum again, :).

From here we took a walk through central park, I couldn’t believe that there were actually parts where you couldn’t see anyone from any angle. It is not what I expected, I thought it would be flatter, however it is massive, can’t get over the scale. Stopped for Pret lunch No.2.

Next stop was the World Trade Centre and 9/11 memorial. It was quite a quiet place, comparing to the likes of Times Square. Wall street and down to Battery Park where you can see across to the Statue of Liberty. It was a bit cloudy but still managed to see, she looks smaller than I thought she would be….it was raining heavily at this point so we ducked into a bar for a few drinks.

We were off to see the Minimalists at 7pm to watch the first official screening of their documentary, we left it a bit late to catch the subway and ended up power walking to the theatre, Josh & Ryan (The Minimalists) were then 25 minutes late. Anyway they introduced the film, it was good, then they did a live pod cast with questions from the audience. Felt exhausted again… time for bed.

  1. Despite the weather you have been very busy. Haven’t wasted a minute of your time in the Big Apple have you? Xx

  2. You really have had a very compact few days. Pity about the tandem bikes but you seem to be able to find other exciting things to see.
