We had a few ideas on what to do today. After popping into the visitor centre, and a shop so Lyns could buy a hat we decided to do a walk. Boy Scout Trailhead was just down the road in Downtown Glenwood Springs, we headed straight off, heading up the mountain. There were views of the town, and the canyon along the way, you could see the Colorado river, railway line and Interstate going through. It was tough going to get to the top, really hot day we both got a little sunburnt. We continued along, joining a different trail at the top which brought us back into the top of town (10 miles total).
After getting back and having a sandwich, we grabbed our swimming stuff and walked down to Iron Mountain Hot Springs, which only opened this year. There was another hot spring but it only had one main pool and didn’t look as good. The hot springs we went to also had one main pool but lots of little pools, all with different temperatures, they are naturally hot and they don’t filter the water, so it was full or nutrients (and alge). The water was about 40C, quite difficult to get into at first.
The ticket was a day pass so after a while we left, went for an ice cream in town and then came back later on to watch the sunset! We drove back to the hot springs like Americans, even though it was only half a mile. The sunset was good.
Nice hat. Another lovely day. X
Looking very relaxed and cook Lynsey.
